Postdoctoral Position
Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School

A Postdoctoral position is available for a Molecular biologist in the Biomaterials/Bioengineering Laboratory of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Our laboratory is focused on investigating the consequences of macrophage interactions with materials used for implants and tissue engineering.  The role of particulate materials in stimulating macrophages and leading to bone loss (osteolysis) around total joint replacements is well established.  In our laboratory, we use various cellular, molecular, genomic as well as engineering tools to study this macrophage interaction with materials using already developed in-vitro and  in-vivo models.  We also study the cellular response to materials in clinical patients.  In other studies, we are evaluating various drug treatments to control and reverse peri-implant bone loss.

Pro-active candidates will have excellent opportunities for collaborations with other basic scientists and clinicians in the department and within the Harvard Community.

Candidates with a background in molecular biology, biochemistry and wishing to pursue basic science research with a strong clinical connection are encouraged to apply.  Please send a CV, and reprints of recent publications.
